TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURE
PROHIBITION:
Pursuant to 36 CFR 261.50(a) and 36 CFR 261.50(b), the following acts are prohibited on the National Forest System road described in this order. The road affected is located on the Spanish Fork Ranger District, Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest. This order is in effect when signed May 1, 2019 until further notice:
- Being upon the Santaquin Canyon road (Forest Service road #014) as described below and shown on attached map. This includes all pedestrian, equestrian, bicycle and any type of motorized vehicle. [36 CFR 261.53 (e)]
EXEMPTIONS:
Pursuant to 36 CFR 261.50(e), the following persons are exempt from this order:
- Persons with a permit specifically exempting them from the effect of this order.
- Any Federal, state or local officer, or member of an organized rescue or firefighting force in the performance of an official duty.
- Federal or State administrative personnel in performance of an official duty.
AREA DESCRIPTION:
The Santaquin Canyon Road (Forest Road #014) is closed starting at the gate, milepost 6.58 above Trumboldt Day-Use Site approximately 1 ½ miles east to Tinney Flat campground, milepost 4.48 within: Township 10 South, Range 2 East, Section 29 Southwest quarter and Section 32, Northeast quarter. All within the Salt Lake Based Meridian.
PURPOSE:
Purpose of the road closure is to provide for public health and safety due to an avalanche and mud slide that has covered the Santaquin Canyon road (Forest Service road #014), and damaged the culvert and asphalt on the road. The road is unsafe due to the debris that can shift and harm people, the potential for continued mudslide activity, and while heavy equipment and crews are working in the area to repair the road damage.
IMPLEMENTATION:
- This Order will be in effect when signed May 1, 2019 and shall remain in effect until further notice.
- Attached map shows the area affected by this Order.
- Violation of the above prohibition(s) is punishable by a fine of not more than $5,000 for an individual or $10,000 for an organization and/or imprisonment for not more than 6 months. [Title 16 USC 551, Title 18 USC 3571(b) (6), Title 18 USC 3581(b) (7)].
