Blackhawk Loop Trail #102

This trail is a loop taking off from the Blackhawk Trail. You will be on the Blackhawk Trail for approximately 1-1/4 miles if you go left at the juncture of the Blackhawk Road and Blackhawk Trail. If you go right, you will be on the Blackhawk Trail for approximately 1/2 mile before you enter the Loop section. At this point the Beaver Dam Trail intersects. If you want to stay on the Blackhawk Loop trail keep to the left. The right hand trail is the Blackhawk Trail and the center trail is the Beaver Dam Trail. The Blackhawk Loop Trail generally follows Forest Road #701 which is the Blackhawk Road. At th bottom of the loop the trail passes through a campsite. The loop is a very diversified trail going through conifer, aspen and open meadows. There are many springs and also beautiful vistas on this interesting trail.

Getting There

Directions

Access: From I-15 take Payson Exit 250. Travel south on Main Street to 100 North and turn left. Continue east to 600 East and turn right and travel south for approximately 3-1/2 miles to the mouth of Payson Canyon. The Mt. Nebo Scenic Byway starts at the mouth of Payson Canyon. Continue driving up the national byway past Payson Lakes to the Blackhawk Road, Forest Road #701. If you drive approximately .16 of a mile on the Blackhawk Road you will come to the Blackhawk Trail. This is not a trailhead but you can go either direction at this point to complete the loop of the Blackhawk Loop Trail.
