Lone Peak Trail
The Lone Peak Trail is accessed from the Hamongog trail.
General Information
The Lone Peak Wilderness was established in 1977 with the purpose of keeping the area in a pristine state. In order to protect the resources of this special area, some regulations have been made:
- No Mechanized or motorized equipment (including mountain bikes).
- No shortcutting trail switchbacks.
- Campfires and wood gathering for fires are discouraged.
- Group size limit is 15 but 8 or less is recommended.
Getting There
Directions
Access #1: Coming from the south on I-15, take the American Fork 500 East Exit 276. Travel north on 500 East to Highway 89 and turn left on Highway 89 to State Road 74 which is 100 East in American Fork. Continue through Highland and Alpine. State Road 74 is Main Street in Alpine. Follow directions for Access #2 beginning at Main Street.
Access #2: Coming from the north on I-15, take the Alpine Exit 284 onto State Road 92 going east. Then turn left (north) on State Road 74 which is Main Street in Alpine. Follow Main until you come to 200 North where you turn right (east) until you reach 200 east. Turn left on 200 East which becomes Grove Drive. Follow Grove Drive through a neighborhood to a "T". Turn left on Grove Drive to Oak Ridge Drive. (13440 N 4150 W). Go north on Oak Ridge Drive then right on Aspen Drive (13560 N 4300 W). You will come to the dirt road. The best place to park is near the fenced water tank. You can also park 0.7 miles up the dirt road which winds its way through private property. It is approximately 1-2 miles to the end of the road where you come to the wilderness boundary where the Hamongog Trail officially begins. The Lone Peak Trail is accessed from the Hamongog Trail.
