Wilderness Considerations: As with any Wilderness trails, please be prepared for trails that have received little to no maintenance; have a map and compass and know how to use them, and have the ability to be self-sufficient as these are truly some of the remotest areas in the Wasatch Mountains.
For further information about the Lone Peak Wilderness and Leave No Trace, please go to http://www.wilderness.net/ and Search Lone Peak.
The Lone Peak Wilderness was established by Congress in 1977 with the purpose of keeping the area in a pristine state. In order to protect the resources of this special area, some regulations have been made:
- No mechanized or motorized equipment (including mountain bikes).
- Group size limit of 15 but 8 or less is recommended.
- No shortcutting trail switchbacks.
- Campfires and wood gathering for fires are discouraged.
