Silver Fork Trail #169

Major destinations include Lower Mine, Upper Bowl and Grizzly Gulch. Trail junctions include Grizzly Gulch Trail. This trail crosses some private land. Please respect private property; do not trespass. The trail takes you to a lower mine. For your own safety, the State of Utah recommends that you do not enter any mine. About 3 miles from the trailhead is an upper bowl. At this point the elevation change is 1,500 feet. If you continue on about another mile, you junction with Grizzly Gulch (total elevation change of 1,940 feet).

Trail Length: 2.72 miles

Watershed: Salt Lake City Watershed Restrictions apply and are strictly enforced. Backcountry camping is not permitted within 200 ft of any open water (lakes, streams, etc). Pets are not allowed at all (not even in your car!). Swimming is not allowed in lakes or streams. Visitors must carry out everything they bring in, including food scraps and fruit peels. Follow general ""Leave No Trace"" guidelines for disposal of human waste. Pollution of any kind will not be accepted. Watershed regulations are enforced by the Salt Lake County Sheriff's Office, the Salt Lake City Water Department, the Salt Lake City - County Health Department, the US Forest Service, and the Alta Marshal's Office. Violations constitute a Class ""B"" misdemeanor and in most cases a citation is issued to violators.

Directions

Via Big Cottonwood Canyon Road (7000 South Wasatch Blvd) 12.7 miles up to Solitude. At the lower parking lot there is a locked gate nearby. Park along the highway, but be sure not to block the gate. On the west end of the lot, there should be a road to follow.
