Chilao Visitor Center
Elevation: 5,100-feet
Amenities: Self-guided trails with exhibits. Vault toilets (non-flush) are located across the road in the Chilao Picnic Area. Trash receptacle available. No water available at visitor center.
Hiking: Access to multiple trails--
- Silver Moccasin National Recreation Trail is within a half-mile of the visitor center. Dirt trail
- National Forest Trail - very short paved trail with exhibits, which leads to the West Fork Cabin
- Gabrieleño Trail - short paved trail with exhibits about historic Native American use of the forest
- Creekside Trail - 1/4-mile dirt trail with outdoor exhibits
- Hiking trail - 1/4-mile dirt trail with exhibits that help you learn how to time your hiking speed, slight elevation gain.
Wildlife-viewing: Popular site for bird-watching
