Cedar Flat Group Camps
Located near Westgard Pass and White Mountain Road, three separate large group sites are popular with academic institutions for geology field trips. Surrounded by Pinyon and Juniper, Camp Nelson, Camp Noren, and Camp Ferguson all have shade ramada’s, campfire ring, picnic table, and vault toilets. These sites are dry, the nearest water source is Big Pine.
General Information
Note: This is a remote area with limited cell phone coverage. You need to be prepared to be self-sufficient. The nearest source for food, water, or fuel is Big Pine, CA.
Peak season is from April 15 until October 15. Refer to Recreation.gov for reservations.
Winter camping from October 16 until April 14. First come, first served during this time.
Quiet hours are 10:00 p.m. until 6:00 a.m.
14-day stay limit.
Overnight Use:
Camp Ferguson: $25 per night (35 people max)
Summer fee varies by number of people/site; $25- $35 per night
- Camp Noren is $25 / up to 25 people
- Camp Ferguson is $25 / up to 35 people
- Camp Nelson is $35 / up to 50 people
Dogs must be leashed in all developed recreation sites.

Directions
From Big Pine go east on Highway 168 approximately 11.5 miles and turn left into the campground entrance. The junction of 168 and White Mt Road (to the bristlecone's) is about 1/2 mile beyond the campground entrance.
Highway 168 is narrow and steep. RV’s and large vehicles should note a section of the road is a single lane with very limited visibility. Technically uphill traffic has the right of way, but everyone should be prepared to stop and back up to the last wide spot if necessary.
