Guests are welcome to enjoy the unique botanical area and wildlife at the Chico Seed Orchard. We remind all visitors to follow the public use policy so that your experience is enjoyable and so that we can continue to meet the objectives of the Chico Seed Orchard Program. Public Use Policy

  1. People and dogs are prohibited from entering seed production orchards in accordance with 36 CFR 261.53 (e).
  2. Pets must be on a leash at all times, in all areas, following Butte County Ordinance 4-1.
  3. Chaseable objects are not to be thrown into the orchards.
  4. Please do not allow dogs to dig anywhere on orchard property.
  5. Please keep dogs out of the landscaped areas.
  6. Please clean-up after dogs. Pet waste stations are available on the site.
  7. Eemployee living area is off-limits to public and dogs.
  8. Fires of any kind are prohibited.
  9. Overnight camping is prohibited.
  10. The orchard is closed on federal holidays.
  11. During the summer public use is permitted 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM daily in accordance with 36 CFR 261.58 (l). Please remember, the drive-through gate closes at 3:00 PM.

The Chico Seed Orchard is located on 209 acres at 2741 Cramer Lane in Chico. There is a one-mile, self-guided and accessible nature trail that meanders through a unique botanical area in Edgar Slough. Forest Order 08-24-03 and the associated map for public use identifies orchard hours, parking and closed areas.
