Resources
The Mendocino National Forest has ten engines, two hotshot/initial attack hand crews, four water tenders, four prevention patrols, one dozer and an emergency communications center. One lookout at Anthony Peak is staffed.
One of the forest’s priorities has been getting the High Glade Lookout rebuilt and staffed again, after it burned in 2018. The construction for the rebuild is currently underway.
During high fire danger, the forest’s fire management will stage aviation resources at the Orland Airport and may also bring outside resources from neighboring national forests to assist staffing. In Redding there are 35 smokejumpers ready to support us if needed.
The forest also hosts an on-call firefighter program. These crews are based in Chico and Upper Lake and respond to local and national incidents.
