Fuelwood Cutters and Service Contracts use the Project Activity Level (PAL) system. Contractors must follow Activity Level requirements specified in their contract. For Mendocino National Forest PAL, please call (530) 934-1240 for today’s recording.

Project activity minimum requirements and restrictions. Restrictions at each level are cumulative.
A, B: Woodcutting allowed. Approved spark arrestor required on chainsaws. Shovel and/or working fire extinguisher required. Patrol area after cutting. No additional permit restrictions.
C: Woodcutting allowed. Approved spark arrestor required on chainsaw. Shovel and/or working fire extinguisher required. Patrol work area for 2 hours
D: Woodcutting allowed until 1 p.m. Approved Spark arrestor required on chainsaw. Shovel and/or working fire extinguisher required. Patrol work area for 2 hours.
Ev/E: No woodcutting cutting at any time.

The Mendocino National Forest, along with other state, county and local fire control organizations, maintains a constant state of readiness for incident response.
If you believe you’ve spotted a fire, please call 911. They will notify and dispatch personnel.
