What Camping Options are There?
Developed Campgrounds
Most forest visitors are familiar with developed campgrounds. These are campgrounds that include designated campsites and may offer amenities such as picnic tables, fire rings, toilets, water or other facilities. These opportunities can be found in the Recreation Site list on this webpage.
Dispersed Camping
Dispersed camping generally takes place outside developed campgrounds and are free. It offers more flexibility and solitude but typically comes no services or amenities. With this flexibility come the responsibility of selecting an appropriate location, following applicable regulations and ensuring Leave No Trave practices are adhered to. Rules and regulations at link in title.
Fire Safe Sites
Fire Safe sites can be found across the forest, and are designated or identified camping locations that have been evaluated and prepared with wildfire risk in mind. These areas have been selected with surrounding fuels and other conditions considered to reduce the chance of human-caused wildfires. A full list of fire safe sites across the forest can be found in our Fire Restrictions Alert Documents.
