Animals and Plant Projects

The Forest Service manages many areas of forest lands to help increase the resiliency of landscapes and work to improve forest restoration.  See the projects and efforts being made to promote the heath of local vegetation and wildlife on the Gifford Ponchot National Forest!

Forest Management

Gifford Pinchot National Forest lands are supported by productive soils, plentiful rainfall, and mild temperatures which provide an ideal land base to manage forest vegetation for forest and watershed health.

Water, Air and Soil

The restoration of watersheds and forest health is a core management objective. To achieve this goal, strategical investment in watershed improvement projects and conservation practices of the landscape and watersheds are conducted.

Geology

The Gifford Pinchot National Forest is home to active and complex geologic processes. From volcanic activity like Mount St. Helens, Mt. Adams, and a series of lava tubes. To uplift, weathering, and erosion from streams and rivers.
