Vancouver, Wash., (July 8, 2025)— Road repair work has begun on Forest Road 4109 (Sliver Star Road) on the Mount St. Helens National Volcanic Monument and District starting Tuesday May 27th, 2025, and has been extended to July 18th, 2025. This work includes decking repairs of the bridge that runs over Copper Creek.

This road work was organized and funded in partnership with the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) through the Good Neighbor Authority agreement (GNA) to restore approximately 4 miles of road along Forest Road 4109. Road work will include gravel replacement, brushing, grading, and shaping. Preventative additions such as culverts, water bars, and sediment traps will be included to mitigate future erosion and help maintain the new road.

Road work will occur from 5/27 through 7/18 from Milepost 0.0 to Milepost 5.1 along Forest Road 4109. DNR will also be conducting road repair work on NF4100 from MP 0.0 to MP 3.3 at the junction of 4109.

To provide safe passage for rock trucks and heavy equipment operations, this section of road will be closed to travel from 7:00am to 5:00pm Monday through Friday but will remain open on weekends. The closure area will also remain open to emergency services. Access to the Silver Star trailhead and Silver Star Area may be limited for the duration of road repairs.
