Site: Lower Falls Day Use

Located on the Lewis River in the Lower Falls Campground this day use area is near the Lower Lewis Falls and within the Lewis River Recreation Area. A flat, paved parking area accesses rolling paved and dirt trails leading to falls viewing areas. Set among mature forests along the North Fork Lewis River, this site is one of the most popular areas on the forest.

The Lewis River Trail #31 running past the day use site leads up and down river to more spectacular falls and other points of interest.

Current Conditions
4/29/2025: Parking Reservation Tickets will be required June 15 to September 02, 2025. They can be found at Recreation.gov. In addition, a $5 day use fee, a NWFP or an Interagency Pass or pay on-site ($5 cash/check) will be required to park in the area. This site experiences heavy traffic during the spring and summer please use caution when driving through the area.

Directions

From Cougar, Washington drive east on Highway 503 for about 33 miles to the campground. Just past the Pine Creek Information Center the highway intersects with Forest Road 25. Keep right at this intersection and stay on Highway 503. At the Forest Boundary Highway 503 becomes Forest Road 90. Continue east on Forest Road 90 to the entrance to the campground which will be on the right after you pass mile marker 28. The entrance is well signed.

From Trout Lake, Washington take Highway 141 west past the Ranger District office to Trout Lake Creek Road. Turn right on Trout Lake Creek Road and continue to the forest boundary where Trout Lake Creek Road becomes Forest Road 88. Stay on Forest Road 88, bearing to the right at the Big Tire intersection, to the tee intersection with Forest Road 90. Turn left on Forest Road 90 and drive about 9 miles to the entrance to the campground on the left side of the road. The entrance is well signed. Note: the gravel area 1.5 miles southwest of Lower Falls on FR 90 near Crab Creek is only passable by High Clearance Vehicles
