Sno-Park: Trail of Two Forests

The site is open for picnicking and hiking Trail of Two Forests Trail #233, a 1/4-mile boardwalk trail that leads you over a 1,900-year-old lava flow. Facilities may be snow-covered in winter. This site is a Washington state Sno-Park December 1 through March 30. 

General Information

Ape Cave is CLOSED during the winter. It is a violation of Federal law to enter Ape Cave or its facilities. Please protect the cave ecosystem and wildlife by obeying the closure order. 

December 1 through March 31: Washington State Sno-Park Permit required. They are not available to purchase on-site. Purchase online or from a vendor. One per vehicle. No other pass required during Sno-Park season.

 

April 1 through November 30: $5/vehicle/day (cash or check) paid at the fee tube or a valid Recreation Pass. See Mount St. Helens Map for fee and payment sites.

Getting There

Directions

From Cougar, WA take Lewis River Road east for 2.8 miles. Continue on Forest Road 90 approximately 4 miles and turn left on forest Road 83. Drive north on Forest Road 83 for 3 miles then turn left onto Forest Road 8303 and go 0.2 miles towards Trail of Two Forests.
