Trailhead: Siouxon

Alert: This trailhead accesses trails within the Big Hollow Fire (2020) and Siouxon (2022) burned areas. Hikers travel at their own risk. Please review safety tips for burned areas. Forest Road 5701 is barricaded and blocked 3.0 miles away from the original trailhead due to wildfire damage. Hikers may access the Siouxon Trail #130 starting from the Upper Siouxon Trailhead (Huffman Peak Trailhead). 

Provides access to:  Siouxon Trail #130 which links up with Huffman Peak #129, Horseshoe Ridge Trail # 140, Chinook Creek Trail #130A and Wildcat Trail # 156.

It also provides access for fishing on Siouxon Creek.

Current Conditions
03/13/2025: Forest Road 5701 is closed to the public beyond the concrete barriers at the Siouxon Trailhead. Visitors must park at the designated trailhead and walk past the barriers to access the Siouxon Trail #130. Logging activity on Washington Department of Natural Resources Forest land is occuring and logging trucks are present on Forest Road 54. Use extreme caution when driving Forest Road 54 to the Upper Siouxon Trailhead.

Directions

From Amboy, WA continue north on State Route 503 for about 4 miles. In Chelatchie, WA pass Mt. St. Helens National Volcanic Monument Headquarters on your left then turn right on NE Healy Road/Forest Road 54. Continue on Forest Road 54 for about 9 miles and take a left on Forest Road 57.  Drive roughly 1 mile to the gravel pit on the right hand side of the road, take a sharp left onto Forest Road 5701. Travel about a mile to the trailhead area. Please park perpendicular to make room for others.

The second trailhead at the end of the 5701 is currently closed due to hazards remaining from Big Hollow Fire.

Horse/Pack Animal Information

Horse/Pack animals are allowed at this site.

Trailhead parking is limited; on busy days, horse trailer access may be difficult and not advised. Forest Roads 57 and 5701 are paved but very rough and may not be appropriate for trailering.
