Middle Fork Camping Closure
Dispersed camping is prohibited along part of Forest Road 56 and 5640, in a corridor adjacent to the Wild and Scenic Middle Fork Snoqualmie River. The purpose of the camping restriction is to reduce recreation-related impacts to: 1) riparian areas and 2) the recreation experience for day-use visitors.

Pursuant to 16 U.S.C. § 551 and 36 CFR § 261.50(a) & (b), the following acts are prohibited within the areas of the Snoqualmie Ranger District of the Mt. Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest described below and shown in Exhibit A. This Order is effective June 1st, 2024, and will remain in effect through December 31st, 2026.
PROHIBITION:
Camping. [36 CFR § 261.58(e)]
CLOSURE AREA DESCRIPTION:
- Forest Service Road (FSR) #56, starting at the Forest Service boundary to the confluence of the Taylor and Middle Fork River's, located within T24N, R9E, Section 25 & T24N, R10E, Sections 30, 31, 19, 20, 29, 28, 21, 22. The area ¼ mile north from the centerline of FSR #56, and the area between the centerline of FSR #56 and the Middle Fork River.
- In T24N, R10E Sections 21 and 22, the area 1/4 mile from centerline on both sides of FRD 56 after; the Taylor River Fork to the intersection of 5640.
- Forest Service Road #5640, including the area ¼ mile on either side of the centerline of the road, from its inception with Forest Service Road #56 to its terminus at Snoqualmie Lake Trail head, located within T24N, R10E, Sections 16, 15, 22.

EXEMPTIONS:
Pursuant to 36 CFR § 261.50(e), the following persons are exempt from this Order:
- Any Federal, State, or local officer, or member of an organized rescue or fire-fighting force in the performance of an official duty.
- Persons with Forest Service Permit No. FS-7700-48 (Permit for Use of Roads, Trails, or Areas Restricted by Regulation Order), specifically exempting them from this order.
This prohibition is in addition to the general prohibitions in 36 CFR Part 261, Subpart A.
Violations of this prohibition are punishable by a fine of not more than $5,000 for an individual or $10,000 for an organization, or imprisonment for not more than 6 months, or both (16 U.S.C. § 551; 18 U.S.C. §§ 3551, 3559, 3571, and 3581).
