Baker Lake Blow Down Salvage
A Proposed Action that discusses the proposed Baker Blowdown Salvage Project on the Mount Baker Ranger District, Mt. Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest was available June 26, 2007. On November 6, 2007, District Ranger, Jon Vanderheyden made a decision to implement the proposed action, including all listed mitigation measures, management practices, requirements, and monitoring. The action will plant trees to meet habitat objectives for Late-Successional Reserves and provide timber volume from lands identified as suitable or timber management. The action will remove blown down trees on approximately 54 acres, generating an estimated 1.6 MMBF of commercial timber in a late-successional reserve land allocation and plant approximately 28 acres with native conifer tress in the same land allocation. This decision will also construct 5 temporary roads totaling approximately 1,600 feet (0.3 miles).
