White Chuck Road 23 Repair
On November 30, 2009, Peter Forbes, Darrington District Ranger signed a decision notice to select Alternative B for the White Chuck Road Repair Project, with the addition of two riverbank logjams upstream from Milepost 1.9 as described in Alternative C. The selection of Alternative B includes all listed mitigation measures, management practices, requirements, and monitoring. Alternative B will repair Road 23 at four flood-damaged sites (Mile Posts 1.9, 2,4, 3.4 and 3.5) to the junction with Road 27, and decommissioning the last 5 miles of Road 23 (damaged sites at Mile Posts 5.8, 6.2 7.5 and 8.5) to the road terminus at the White Chuck Trailhead. A vehicle turnaround will be constructed before the junction of Roads 23 and 27. The box culvert at the Stujack Creek crossing will be replaced by a 70 to 80 foot bridge.
