Barlow Ranger District

The Barlow Ranger District is located east of the Cascades crest and encompasses about 280,000 acres. Like other Eastern Cascade Forests, the District is much drier than the western districts and includes a mix of deciduous and coniferous tree species, reflecting the diversity in climate across the Forest. The District includes two Wild and Scenic Rivers (White River and Fifteenmile Creek) and one Wilderness Area (Badger Creek Wilderness). The Dalles and Fifteenmile watersheds provide critical habitat for listed fish species and drinking water to the cities of The Dalles and Dufur.

Barlow Ranger District is designated as a Wildfire Crisis Strategy national priority landscape. The District continues to treat land for fuels mitigation and work with partners and local communities to reduce fuels and improve habitat. The district partners with a strong collaborative group to accomplish this work.
