The Forest Service sells timber and other forest products on a variety of contract and permit forms based on the complexity and/or value of the sale.
Special Forest Products
Special forest products include natural resources like mushrooms, firewood, and transplants. On Mt. Hood National Forest, permits are required for some products, but not for others. It's your responsibility to know forest product regulations.
Timber Sales
The U.S. Forest Service actively manages timber sales in the Mt. Hood National Forest to promote forest health, mitigate wildfire risks, and drive economic growth. Timber sales are conducted through competitive bidding processes, enabling companies to purchase timber and deliver economic benefits to local communities.
