Burn Bans
State and local authorities determine when risk is high enough to instate burn bans prohibiting open fires. Review state open burning rules, and know that your local (city/parish) ones may be stricter, so consult your local government before open burning.
The Louisiana Department of Agriculture and Forestry provides the state burn ban map for current fire conditions and burn bans on their website.
Even when there aren’t burn bans, we recommend checking fire conditions and practicing safe burning practices.
Code of Federal Regulations
The Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) annual edition is the codification of the general and permanent rules published in the Federal Register by the departments and agencies of the Federal Government. It is divided into 50 titles that represent broad areas subject to Federal regulation. The USDA Forest Service is found in Title 36, Chapter II. Prohibitions are found under Part 261.
