Do You Need a Permit?
YES - you DO need a permit:
- to collect fuelwood.
- for commercial and non-commercial use of NFS lands, including:
- Easements for electrical and utility lines
- Roads to access private property bound by National Forest lands
- Oil and gas pipelines, wells or holding tanks, etc.
- Minerals
NO - you DO NOT need a permit:
- to gather edible material (morels, etc.) for your own consumption.
- to build a campfire on National Forest System lands using a reasonable quantity of wood you collect without a firewood permit.

Firewood Permits

Event/Commercial Permits
Obtain a commercial permit for events, commercial photography, filming, sound recording, outfitting and guides, and road use permits across NFS land to access private property.
ATV/OHV/OHM Permits
Anyone who rides a motorized vehicle on the ANF designated motorized trail system is required to purchase an ATV/Trail permit.
Contracts and Commercial Permits
For companies interested in contracting with the Allegheny National Forest.
