On Trail 55552, the Pipeline 4x4 Challenge Trail, motorized use other than snowmobiles, is prohibited to ensure the integrity of the ANR Pipeline Company's high pressure natural gas pipeline.

Prohibitions
Pursuant to 16 U.S.C. § 551 and 36 CFR § 261.50(a), the following acts are prohibited within the area described in this Order (the “Restricted Area”) and as depicted on the attached map, hereby incorporated into this Order as Exhibit A, within the Lakewood-Laona Ranger District, Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest, Oconto County, Wisconsin.
- Entering or using locations in Exhibit A using a motorized vehicle other than a snowmobile. 36 CFR § 261.55(b).
Exemptions
Pursuant to 36 CFR § 261.50(e), the following persons are exempt from this Order:
- Persons with a written Forest Service authorization specifically exempting them from the effect of this Order.
- Any Federal, State, or Local Officer, or member of an organized rescue or firefighting resource in the performance of an official duty.
Restricted Area
The Restricted Area is within Township 31 North, Range 17 East, Sections 1, 12, 13, 24, 25, 26, and 35; Township 32 North, Range 17 East, Sections 1, 12, 13, 24, 25, and 36; and Township 33 North, Range 17 East, Sections 13, 24, 25, and 36. Specifically all National Forest System lands on Trail 55552, the Pipeline Challenge Trail, as depicted in Exhibit A of this Order.
Purpose
The purpose of this Order is to provide for public safety and to ensure the integrity of the ANR Pipeline company’s high pressure natural gas pipeline, which runs beneath the Pipeline Challenge Trail.
Implementation
- This Order will be effective on June 4, 2025, at 8 AM, and shall remain in effect until June 9, 2027, or until rescinded, whichever occurs first.
- A map identifying the Restricted Area is attached and made part of this Order as Exhibit A.
- Any violation of this prohibition is punishable as a Class B misdemeanor by a fine of not more than $5,000 for individuals and $10,000 for organizations, or by imprisonment for not more than six (6) months, or both (see 16 U.S.C. § 551, 18 U.S.C. § 3571(b)(6), 18
- U.S.C. § 3581 (b)(7)).
