The Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest is planning prescribed fire operations this month. We estimate this work to continue through the spring as weather conditions allow.

Water levels reduced on the Mondeaux Flowage starting on 9/30
The Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest will reduce water levels on the Mondeaux Flowage in Taylor County, Wisconsin, starting the week of September 30, 2024. The drawdown is expected to be completed the by the first part of November 2024.

Closure on Forest Road 1666 (Black Lake Road) for motorized vehicles
For public safety while the area is being reconditioned, the USDA Forest Service will close Forest Road 1666 (Black Lake Road) to motorized vehicles until further notice beginning Oct. 30, 2023.

Bringing Firewood from Outside the CNNF is Prohibited - Forest Order 09-13-09-02
Firewood restrictions are in place to slow the spread of Emerald Ash Borer. This invasive beetle loves to travel on firewood so please leave firewood at home, unless you live within 25 miles of your National Forest destination.
