76th St. Trailhead

Going North - From 76th Street Trailhead to Bowman Lake Trailhead, hikers will travel toward and along the Pere Marquette National Scenic River. As hikers travel north the terrain will get progressively hilly as the trail heads to Bowman Bridge Campground and River Access.

Going South - From 76th Street Trailhead to Nichols Lake North Trailhead, visitors will find themselves in a heavily wooded red pine area with several stream crossings.  Hikers will travel through Sterling Marsh, the trail here has been raised to avoid the marsh areas.  The trail also passes through Stiles Swamp and towards Nichols Lake North.

Special Use Permit -

  • Permits are required for commercial, event or large groups (75 people or more).

No Fees are required for this site.

Dogs are welcome on the Huron-Manistee National Forests (HMNFs), given that applicable rules are followed and proper etiquette is practiced. Observing these rules and recommendations will ensure that you and other forest visitors have a safe and enjoyable outdoor recreation experience.
