Marlinton Non-Commercial Thinning
This project proposes non-commercial tree thinning of an estimated 219 acres of young forest stands on the Marlinton Ranger District, Monongahela National Forest. The treatment units are within Forest Management Prescription 6.1 in the Forest Plan. MP 6.1 emphasis is to enhance the variety of wildlife habitat on the Forest, by providing sustainable production of mast and other plant species that benefit wildlife, and actively restoring oak-pine and oak-hickory communities. Some of the units contain oak plantings and the proposed treatment will improve their long-term survival rate.
