Free Wood Permits for Select Storm Damage Sites

The Superior National Forest is extending FREE wood permits from 2023 storm damage in select locations on the Laurentian and Kawishiwi Ranger Districts through September 30, 2025. Each permit is limited to four cords

This opportunity for free wood permits is only for areas that suffered damage in 2023 storms. It does not apply to damage from the June 18 storms of this year. Since September 2023, free wood permits have been available for the following nine roads or trails:

• FR 112 Dunka River Road
• FR 113 Road
• FR 130 Moose Line Road
• FR 383 Bandana Lake Road
• FR  1491 Deep Lake Road
• FR 420 Cranberry Lake Road
• FR 118 Camp 26 Road
• FR 791 Road
• Kelly Loop Trail

to include spurs of listed roads, if not closed by berm.
