Northmet Mining Project and Land Exchange
A land exchange of federal lands in: T59N, R12W, T59N, R13W, and T60N, R13W. Non-federal lands being proposed are located throughout the Superior National Forest in St. Louis and Lake counties. The environmental analysis for the proposed land exchange was addressed as a connected action in the NorthMet Mining Project and Land Exchange Environmental Impact Statement in which the Forest Service is a co-lead agency with the MN Department of Natural Resources and the US Army Corps of Engineers. See the website www.mndnr.gov/polymet for the Final Environmental Impact Statement, including the Biological Assessment and Biological Evaluation. The Forest Service Final Record of Decision for the land exchange is posted here.
