Circle Route
Spend a weekend or a week on this 10 lake and two river canoe route. Enjoy the scenery and wildlife viewing from the clear or dark water lakes and slow rivers. Anglers will find plenty of walleye, bass, northern pike, and crappie to keep them busy for hours.
Boating
- There are 10 portages, ranging from 10 to 270 rods.
- Portage conditions range from flat and gradual to steep. Some portions have rugged tread that will require sturdy footwear.
- No watercraft horsepower limitations apply, however many of the lakes are small with rugged access so that larger motors are not common.
Lake included in this route: Burntside Lake, Little Long Lake, Dry Lake, High Lake, Bass Lake, Low Lake, Grassy Lake, Tee Lake, Sletten Lake, Fenske Lake, Everett Lake, and Twin Lakes.
Rivers included: Ranger River and Dead River.

- Fenske Lake—off the Echo Trail (Cty.Rd.116)
- Burntside Lake from Passi Rd./Cty. Rd. 803 (off the Echo Trail/Cty.Rd.116)
- Little Long Lake from Echo Trail/Cty. Rd. 116 (across the road from Bass Lake)
- Bass Lake from Echo Trail/Cty. Rd. 116
- Everett Lake from Echo Trail/Cty. Rd. 116
- Low Lake from Cloquet Line /FS Rd.
Camping
Route includes 18 campsites total, located on High, Bass, Low, Grassy, Tee, Sletten, and Twin Lakes.
Please use facilities provided such as fire rings, tent pads, and latrines and pack out garbage.
- All sites are available on a first come, first served basis with one group per campsite.
- Campsites are accessible by boat or canoe
- Camping is limited to 14 days at developed sites.
- There is no camping at Jeanette Lake Island, Birch Lake "TP Island", and Grassy Lake Island.
