Chugach National Forest
The Forest Service follows NEPA regulations issued by the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Under this rule, Forest Service officials determine which proposed projects are shared for public input.
The agency no longer issues a schedule of proposed actions (SOPA) report. Below is the current list of proposed projects available for review—your opportunity to learn more, share feedback, and stay engaged in decisions that shape the future of our public lands.
Coalition of Christian Outreach Experiential Designs is proposing to bring college students to camp in Sheep Bay, Orca Inlet, Orca Bay, and Simpson Bay and hike and camp on the Sand Trail leading to the Scott Glacier.
Alaska Department of Fish & Game have proposed dam improvements on the Cannery Creek Dam. The current structure has safety issues for staff operating the dam as well as in protection of the hatchery in the event of a dam breach.
Adopt the language of the Programmatic Environmental Assessment of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service Management Strategy for Elodea and Other Submersed Aquatic Invasive Plants in the Alaska Region as the Chugach NF's management strategy.
Realign United States Forest Service Road 250 to educe erosion from the road surface, improve public access, restore essential fish habitat, and improve fish passage and floodplain connectivity.
ADFG has proposed the following safety upgrades at the Main Bay Fish Hatchery in Prince William Sound: removal and replacement of fuel tanks and lines, installation of permanent seine net anchors,& improved electric bear fence to protect brood pond.
NGOA Marine, LLC (Aurelia Charters)has submitted a proposal to provide guided hiking on the both Cordova and Glacier Ranger Districts. 90 service days is being requested.
The Glacier Ranger District proposes to add Derickson Bay Trail as a .26 mile Trail Class 2 Hiker/Pedestrian trail.

The GRD Trails program would like to formally decommission Trail 113: Esther Island North Portage Trail which no longer exists.

The Glacier Ranger District proposes to decommission Trail 127: Red Lake Portage Trail. This is a .2 mile trail is located in Esther Passage in Prince William Sound that no longer exists.

The Glacier Ranger District proposes to add Seattle Ridge as a Trail Class 2 (snow) trail. This over snow trial would ascend roughly 1.5 miles to Seattle Ridge on Turnagain Pass.

The Glacier Ranger District proposes to add Sunburst Ski Trail as a Trail Class 2 (snow) trail. This over snow trail starts at the mile 67 turnoff on the Seward Highway and continues to the crest of Sunburst.

The USDA Forest Service is proposing to construct new day use recreation facilities on National Forest System Lands on the Glacier Ranger District of the Chugach National Forest.

The proposed amendment would change the ROS Class at Trinity Point from Semi-Primitive Motorized to Roaded Natural. Only 30 acres of land at Trinity Point would be affected.
