Directions
The cabin is located 65 miles southwest of Cordova on the northeast side of Stump Lake on Montague Island.
The cabin is a 45-minute flight from Cordova and Seward by float plane or wheeled plane. Wheeled planes land on the outside beach strip at low tide. If a wheeled plane is used, access is limited by tides and gear must be hiked to the cabin from the landing area which is 3/4 mile from the cabin via trail. Please consult local tide tables and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's website for the most current tide predictions.

Recreation Opportunities
Fishing - Lake & Pond Info
The cabin is on an 80-acre lake with a rowboat that guests can use. Please bring and use life vests. During the open season, guests can fish for cutthroat trout and Dolly Varden - most abundant fish. They can be caught off of the rocky points or near the pond lily beds around the lake with fly fishing or spinning gear. Pink, coho, and sockeye salmon come into the lake, but the populations are relatively small. Visit the Alaska Department of Fish & Game's website to review fishing regulations and purchase a license.
Fishing - River/Stream Info
During the open season, the best salmon fishing is for coho and pinks in the ocean or the mouth of the creek at high tide. Visit the Alaska Department of Fish & Game's website to review fishing regulations and purchase a license.
Note: Salmon fish counts are monitored throughout Alaska and determine the daily limits for sport, commercial and subsistence fishing. Anyone fishing in Alaska should be aware that the limits are subject to change and/or restriction depending on the fish count.
Emergency orders, often restricting the harvest of king salmon, can be issued at any time and have the same force and effect as law. Be sure to check the ADF&G's Emergency Order and Press Releases page prior to fishing.
Hunting Info
During the open seasons and in designated areas, visitors can hunt for deer which is popular in the area. Please examine the Alaska Department of Fish & Game's hunting regulations prior to your trip.
