Paulson Bay Cabin
The 12 x 14-foot cabin accommodates up to 6 people and comes equipped with wooden bunks, a table with benches, an oil-drip kerosene stove for heat, a fire extinguisher, broom and an outhouse with composting toilet.
The cabin sits on a bluff and can be reached by some steps leading up from the beach.
Cabin users should bring a supply kerosene fuel for the duration of their stay. With moderate use, the stove burns about 1 gallon/ day.
Water and electricity are not available. Guests must bring their own supply of drinking water. Items such as a cook stove, cooking gear, flashlights or lanterns, bedding, sleeping pads, trash bags and toilet paper and heating fuel (kerosene) are not provided onsite.
Guests are expected to pack out trash and clean the cabin before leaving.
Note: The composting toilet has a separating toilet seat which redirects urine into a leach field. The outhouse has been converted to a composting toilet and requires the user to add a small amount of peat (1/2 cup) after use. Please burn your toilet paper. A metal bin has been provided for this purpose.

Recreation Opportunities
Fishing - River/Stream Info
Fishing is good for chum and pink salmon, usually from late July through August. If you can catch shrimp and bottom fish, they're there too. Remember to visit the Alaska Department of Fish & Game's website to review fishing regulations and to purchase a permit.
Note: Salmon fish counts are monitored throughout Alaska and determine the daily limits for sport, commercial and subsistence fishing. Anyone fishing in Alaska should be aware that the limits are subject to change and/or restriction depending on the fish count.
Emergency orders, often restricting the harvest of king salmon, can be issued at any time and have the same force and effect as law. Be sure to check the ADF&G's Emergency Order and Press Releases page prior to fishing.
Hunting Info
During the open seasons and in designated areas, visitors can hunt for grouse, ptarmigan, moose and black and brown bears. Please examine the Alaska Department of Fish & Game's hunting regulations prior to your trip.
Viewing Wildlife Info
Black bears, Sitka black-tailed deer and bald eagles make their home here. Prince William Sound supports abundant sea life, including waterfowl, sea otters, orcas, Dall's porpoises, harbor seals and sea lions.
Viewing Scenery Info
The cabin is set in an open wooded area with muskeg nearby and offers a spectacular view of Port Wells and College Fjord with Harvard Glacier in the background.
Day Hikes Info
Hiking in the area is fairly easy because there is relatively little brush to inhibit movement. A three-quarter mile route leads north from the cabin to the creek. Guests can bring kayaks for exploring the coastline and the bay.
Boating - Non-Motorized Info
Local tide reports should be consulted before any kayaking trip, and kayakers should watch out for the numerous submerged rock ledges in the area.
