The Forest provides various terrains and recreational opportunities, including camping and picnic areas, hiking, exploring on horseback, trail running, mountain biking, and scenic drives.

Public Input Requested for OHV Grant Applications

The public comment period on 2025 State Off-Highway Motor Vehicle Recreation Grant applications begins on March 4 through May 5. Please consider commenting on the Cleveland National Forest applications. These grants help maintain our OHV opportunities.

Public comments must be submitted to Jacob Rodriguez, recreation and lands officer on the Trabuco Ranger District, at jacob.rodriguez@usda.gov, and to California State Parks by using the “Grants” tab on their website at ohv.parks.ca.gov.

SR-74 Ortega Highway-widening work

Cal Trans continues to perform highway-widening work on SR-74 Ortega Highway with periodic nightly closures. This activity will limit access to many Trabuco Ranger District trails, campgrounds, and picnic areas.  For more information, please visit the CalTrans website.
