Recreation

Trails webpages and information will not be available until May 2025. Thank you for your patience while we work through getting the most updated, accurate information for you during this time.

There are 18.8 miles of roads and 24 miles of recreational trails in El Yunque. These trails are restricted to foot traffic (hiking) only. Use of horses, motorcycles or mountain bikes is not permitted on any trails. Dogs must be on a leash. Although there are no trails that presently accommodate wheelchair traffic, there are plans for a handicapped access trail in the near future.

Our recreation opportunities are organized two ways: by activity and by corridor. Click the corridor name to see it's opportunities:

  • Road 191 North  - La Mina Recreation Area (Does not require Reservation)
  • Road 988 - Luquillo entrance (Does not require Reservation)
  • Road 186 - El Toro Scenic Byway (Does not require Reservation)
  • Road 191 South - Naguabo (Does not require Reservation)
