Timber Sales
Timber management is an important component of productive forest resource management. The Salmon-Challis, Bridger-Teton, and Caribou-Targhee National Forests combine to form the North East Timber Zone (NETZ).
All timber sales will be advertised here.
Pre-Advertisements
The Forest Service intends to advertise timber designated for cutting in the following proposed timber sale area(s) on the Salmon-Challis National Forest prior to April 1, 2026.
The Rocky and Bullwinkle sale contains 356 acres. The sale is located approximately 10 miles northeast of Salmon, ID, on the Salmon-Cobalt Ranger District. The sale is accessed from the Stormy Peak Road (Forest System Road 60023). This sale contains an estimated volume of 11,213 hundred cubic feet of timber designated for cutting.
The Clark Post and Pole sale contains 59 acres and is located approximately 30 miles southeast of the town of Salmon, Idaho. The sale runs along the top of the Warm Spring Road (Forest System Road 60185), near the Idaho/Montana border. This sale contains an estimated volume of 762 hundred cubic feet of timber designated for cutting.
This advance notice is to afford interested parties time to examine the sale area(s) prior to winter. The final advertisement will contain final minimum stumpage rates, bidding provisions, and other sale conditions.
