Areas of Special Interest

  • Karner Blue Butterfly

    KBB - Horsemint

    The Karner blue butterfly was placed on the Endangered Species List in 1979 and received final approval as a federally listed endangered speices in 1992.

  • Kirtland's Warbler

    Kirtlands Warbler sitting on a tree stump

    The Kirtland's warbler was one of the first species to be listed after the Endangered Species Act of 1973 was passed by Congress.

  • Non-Native Invasive Species

    Emerald Ash Borer

    NNIS have significantly impacted United States ecosystems and cost millions of dollars to prevent.  Whether it is an insect, plant, weed, aquatic or terrestrial - NNIS can have a huge impact on the ecosystem they invade.

  • White-nosed Syndrome

    Bats with white nose syndrome

    Since it was first recorded in 2006-2007 in Upstate New York near Albany, white nose syndrome (WNS) has killed millions of hibernating bats in the caves and abandoned mines of eastern North America, and it is spreading inexorably into the South and Midwest.

Timber Sale Contracting Contacts

The Forest's top priority is to maintain and improve the health, diversity, and productivity of forest ecosystems for the enjoyment of current and future generations. Forest management includes guidance, administration, and support of the agency's forest products management and sales programs.

Stewardship Contracting Contacts

Stewardship contracting allows the Forest Service to work with contractors to accomplish a variety of on-the-ground projects. Potential work may include general construction, timber stand improvements, road and trail work, wildlife habitat enhancement, reforestation activities, fuels treatments, and non-native invasive plant control.

Timber Sale RSS Feed

Timber sales now have a Rich Site Summary (RSS) feed. When you subscribe to the feed it will email you every time a new timber sale or stewardship sale is added, with a link to the sale. Most email services are RSS Feed Readers, you will need to find the specific instructions for your email service (ex.: gmail, yahoo, outlook) on how to add the feed to your email.

  1. Right click on the RSS icon or button.
  2. Select Copy Link Location to copy the URL of the feed.
  3. Go to your RSS Feed Reader.
  4. Paste the URL into your Feed reader.
