WILDFIRE ON APALACHICOLA WILDERNESS (NEAR TALLAHASSEE AIRPORT):
The National Forests in Florida (NFF) is currently managing a wildfire on the Apalachicola National Forest Clear Lake Wilderness Study Area. The current estimated size of the "Clear Lake Wildfire" is approximately 450 acres and located solely on USFS wilderness land (as of June 9, 6 pm).
Be advised: Due to the wildfire's proximity to Tallahassee International Airport, smoke may potentially impact flight operations. For public safety, we have temporarily closed Forest Service Road (FSR) 305 and the ANF shooting range. No additional road closures, nor any evacuations, are deemed necessary at this time.
NFF firefighters and mission partners are closely monitoring area weather conditions (wind direction, rain saturation, etc..) which may affect the wildfire's movement and lifespan.
