Campgrounds Temporarily Closed Due to Hazardous Conditions

Contact(s): Leona Rodreick

Due to the abundance of snow and rain, several hazardous conditions including wet soils, high water, has prompted the Pintler Ranger District to take action.   In the Georgetown Lake vicinity, Cable Campground and Rainbow Bay Picnic areas as well as some individual developed campsites have been closed due to unstable soils and trees that have fallen due to high winds. Warm Springs campground and picnic area are also closed due to high water.

Forest crews are currently assessing conditions, cleaning culverts and removing hazard trees and trees that may have fallen across the roads throughout the Pintler Ranger District.  As crews remove hazards and the soils dry out or as high water recedes, these sites will be opened for the public to enjoy.

For more information contact the Pintler Ranger District at (406) 859-3211 located at 88 Business Loop in Philipsburg.
