Chugach National Forest Special Use Campground Concession Business Opportunity

The U.S. Forest Service is soliciting applications for a concession (campground and day use) special use permit on the Chugach National Forest. This special use provides high-quality public service in the operation and maintenance of government-owned recreation facilities located on the Glacier and Seward Ranger Districts. The recreation sites offered in this business opportunity are located on the east side of the Kenai Peninsula. All Forest Service fee campgrounds on the Eastern Kenai Peninsula are included in this permit.

The primary use season is mid-May to mid- September with shoulder season use occurring as weather allows.  The area is known for its recreational opportunities including hundreds of miles of hiking trails, numerous public use cabins, excellent fishing opportunities, and a variety of campgrounds. The Eastern Kenai Peninsula boosts the popular Resurrection Pass National Recreation Trail, the Iditarod National Historic Trail, and the newly developed Spencer Glacier Whistle Stop offering access to the remote backcountry via the Alaska Railroad.

Applicants are responsible for producing their own business plans and financial predictions in responding to this permit opportunity. The permit term will be set for to five years, with an option to extend the term for up to an additional five years at the sole discretion of the authorized officer.

All applications must be submitted to Francisco Sanchez, Seward Ranger District, 33599 Ranger Station Spur, Seward, AK 99664. Applications must be received by close of business (4:30 p.m. Alaska Daylight Time) on June 25, 2019.

Applicants should contact Monika Adam at 907-288-7720 or regarding any questions related to this opportunity.
