Fire Closures on the Willamette National Forest

Detailed updates on large active wildfires are on InciWeb, the clearinghouse for major national incidents. Below is an overview of current wildfire closures on the Willamette National Forest. View detailed stories of the Labor Day 2020 wildfires. This does not include closures from active wildfires.

Willamette Complex South (previously Oakridge Lightning Fires)

Start Date: July 17, 2024

Overview: The Oakridge Lightning Fires consist of the Chalk, McKinley, Tire Mountain, Moss Mountain, Coffeepot, 217 and 208 Fires. The Chalk and McKinley Fires are approximately 5 miles north of High Prairie, OR. The Tire Mountain Fire is approximately 5 miles northwest of Westfir, OR. The Coffeepot Fire is approximately 9 miles southeast of Oakridge, OR and on the east side of Hills Creek Lake. The Moss Mountain Fire is approximately 15 miles southeast of Oakridge. The 217 and 208 Fires are located on the west and south slopes of Diamond Peak, approximately 10 miles west of Crescent Lake Junction, OR.

District: Sweet Home Ranger District (Pyramid); McKenzie River Ranger District (Ore, Linton, Boulder, 374)

Overview: The Willamette Complex North is located northeast of Blue River and southeast of Oakridge. The Complex consists of the Boulder Creek, Linton Creek, and 347 Fires that were reported on July 28, 2024, and the Ore Fire that was reported on July 17, 2024. The Pyramid Fire is located east of Sweet Home. The three fires in the complex were started by lightning, while the Ore Fire was human-caused.

Lookout Fire

Start: Aug. 5, 2023

District: McKenzie River Ranger District

Overview: The fire was within the boundary of HJ Andrews Experimental Forest in an area with steep slopes and mostly comprised of old growth timber and dense vegetation on the surface.

Bedrock Fire

Overview: The Bedrock Fire started near Bedrock Campground on the Middle Fork Ranger District.

Cedar Creek Fire 

Start Date: Aug. 1, 2022

District: Middle Fork Ranger District

Overview: 3 miles west of Waldo Lake, north of Highway 58, and 12 miles east of the community of Oakridge.

Holiday Farm Fire

Beachie Creek and Lionshead Fires

Smoke plume over the Willamette National ForestStart Date: Aug. 16, 2020

District: Detroit Ranger District
