Projects are proposed actions that are analyzed through the NEPA process (EIS, EA, or CE) that involves analyzing different alternatives to the proposed action, requires public notice and comment, and results in a NEPA decision (ROD, DN, or DM) which, subject to an administrative appeals process, and is implemented on the ground.
The Forest Projects below are projects that we are analyzing or have analyzed under the NEPA process.

SOPA Reports
The Schedule of Proposed Actions (SOPA) contains a list of proposed
actions for Siuslaw National Forest that will soon begin or are currently undergoing environmental
analysis and documentation. It provides information so that you can become
aware of and indicate your interest in specific proposals. We encourage your
early and ongoing involvement in any proposals of interest to you.
Updating standards, guidelines, and other Forest Plan components for stewardship of the Siuslaw's four wilderness areas. Responding to changed conditions since Forest Plan approval, including designation of new wilderness in 2019.
This project would develop a strategy that allows an array of tools to be used for reducing invasive weeds across the Siuslaw NF. One component would add four new chemicals to approved use list, requiring a plan amendment. https://bit.ly/3RT9D4e
This is a landscape-scale terrestrial restoration project in the North Fork Smith River watershed area. Activities include: plantation thinning, wildlife habitat enhancement, invasive plant treatments, and road improvements.
The Northwest Forest Plan Amendment provides an updated management framework that incorporates best available scientific information, considers public input, recommendations from the Federal Advisory Committee, tribes, and government partners.
This project will modify an incised and isolated section of floodplain to improve the ecological productivity. Actions include regrading area to historic elevations, invasive plant species removal, large log placement, replanting of native species
In conjunction with Lincoln City, develop a system trail which when added to the City system creates a trail out to the coastline. Several user created routes which are creating resource damage would be closed. Estimate less than 1 mile of const.
The Hebo Ranger District was proposing to decommission the Rocky Bend and Castle Rock Campgrounds. The NEPA to decommission these campgrounds has been cancelled and future use is being re-evaluated by Forest and District Staff.
This is a landscape-scale restoration project in the Sand Lake watershed. Activities include: plantation thinning, fish and wildlife habitat enhancement, invasive plant treatments, road and recreation improvements, and sand dune restoration.
Project would enable herbicide treatment methods for restoring native coastal meadow vegetation and enhancing habitat for Oregon silverspot butterfly and other pollinators.
Reissue Organizational Camp permit, changing from an existing annual permit to a 20 year, term permit. Permitted activities have been in existence since the 1940's.
