Cross-Country Skiing and Snowshoeing

Winter on the Beaverhead-Deerlodge National Forest opens endless recreation opportunities for cross-country skiers and snowshoe enthusiasts to enjoy.
There are six maintained cross-country ski trail areas on the Beaverhead-Deerlodge National Forest and several ungroomed trail systems:
- Birch Creek Trails (ungroomed) [PDF]
- Chief Joseph Area Cross-Country Ski Touring Trails:
- Echo Lake Ski Trails [PDF] groomed by the Echo Lake Trail Association
- Elkhorn Hot Springs (ungroomed) [PDF]
- Georgetown Lake Cross-Country Ski Trails [PDF]
- Moulton Cross Country Ski Trails, groomed by the Mile High Nordic Ski Education Foundation
- Wade and Cliff Lakes Groomed Trails, groomed by Wade Lake Cabins.
The Mount Haggin Nordic Ski Trails, in the Mount Haggin State Wildlife Management Area, which are groomed by the Mile High Nordic Ski Education Foundation are also near the forest.
