Northern Continental Divide Ecosystem Grizzly Bear Forest Plan Amendments
As part of the Flathead National Forest's forest plan revision process, our forest has signed and finalized forest plan amendments to incorporate habitat management direction for the Northern Continental Divide Ecosystem (NCDE) Grizzly Bear population across the NCDE, including the Helena-Lewis and Clark, Kootenai and Lolo National Forests. The amendments incorporate relevant direction from the NCDE Grizzly Bear Conservation Strategy to support a recovered grizzly bear population within the NCDE. These amendments became effective with the publication of notice of approval in the Federal Register on December 27, 2018. Follow the link to the Flathead National Forest's website to read more details about and the actual NCDE Grizzly Bear Forest Plan Amendments.

Roads Analysis Report
On January 12, 2001, the Forest Service published final rules for National Forest Road System Management revising regulations concerning the management, use, and maintenance of the National Forest Transportation System. In 2001 the Helena National Forest initiated a roads analysis of forest system roads based on the process outlined in the USDA Forest Service Washington Office FS-643, Roads Analysis: Informing Decisions About Managing the National Forest Transportation System. The final roads analysis report was completed in late 2004 and is available for review (see links below).
