Regional Resources*
- The Rocky Mountain is part of the Rocky Mountain Geographic Area (RMACC). RMACC, like the Rocky Mountain Region, is comprised of five states, Colorado, Kansas, Nebraska, South Dakota, and Wyoming.
- The Region hosts:
- 762 firefighters (including leadership)
- 56 Engines
- 11 10-Person Initial Response hand crews
- 7 Wildfire Modules
- 3 Type 3 Helicopter Modules
- 1 Type 2 Helicopter Module
- 40 Unmanned Aircraft Systems with 50 carded pilots,
- 4 staffed airtanker bases
- 3 Air Attack Platforms
- 5 Interagency Hotshot Crews
- 3 Interagency Incident Management Teams
- These Regional resources are a part of the robust Forest Service fire organization comprising 11,300 firefighters, 29 airtankers (with an additional 4 on-call) and 232 helicopters and additional Incident Management Teams as needed.
- The Region can activate up to 13,000 additional employees throughout our departments to support wildfire response, known as secondary firefighters.
