Baldy Trailhead

This Trailhead serves as the access point for Baldy Trail #1200. It is a 6.75 mile trail that begins on private land, so please respect the landowner and stay on the trail.

The trail begins by crossing the East Fork Williams Fork River and at mile 0.4 enters the Routt National Forest. The trail steadily climbs as it heads southwest through stands of aspen and enters the Flat Tops Wilderness at mile 3.5. Several old sheep trails diverge along this route and to stay on the main trail, follow the rock cairns. For the next mile, the trail remains in the open as it heads east to intersect a prominent ridge defining the southern boundary of Bunker Basin. Crossing the headwaters of Baldy Creek, the trail continues to ascend and enters a spruce-fir forest at mile 4.6. The trail continues up the ridge and reaches its high point of 11,200 feet, just south of Pyramid Peak. The trail then descends the remaining 0.5 miles to the junction with Black Mountain Creek Trail No. 1117.

Restrooms are available 0.8 miles South of the Trailhead at the East Fork Trailhead.
