  • Forest Health Treatments on Leadville Ranger District

    Forest Service specialists on the Leadville Ranger District will be conducting forest health treatments north and east of Turquoise Lake through the end of November. With a total of 280 acres planned for treatment, 250 acres will be mechanically harvested, and 30 acres will be treated by hand with a chainsaw.

    While no road closures will be in effect, please be aware of logging equipment in the area. Safety is a top priority for personnel and the public.

    An additional 54 acres will be treated by hand with a below the Sugar Loaf Dam in mid to late September. Both treatments are part of the Tennessee Creek project, which covers a total of 13,580 acres near Turquoise Lake, Halfmoon Creek, Tennessee Pass and Mount Zion areas.
