General Information

This trail connects with Venable Trail #1347 and Rainbow Trail #1336 and is a short distance from the Alvarado Campground.

The Sangre de Cristo Wilderness was established in 1993 to preserve its quality, character and integrity. This area is intended to be a place with minimal human impact where natural processes are the primary influences. Human activity is limited to primitive recreation and travel. Please follow Leave No Trace Outdoor Ethics to ensure that this and future generations experience this special place in its natural condition.

Camping and stock are prohibited within 300 feet of lakes and 100 feet of streams. Livestock are not recommended on the Phantom Terrace.

From Westcliffe, CO, take  State Highway 69 south to County Road 140 (Schoolfield Lane). Turn right on County Road 140 and follow it to the Comanche/Venable Trailhead.
