El Jebel Administrative Site, Upper Parcel, Conveyance Project
The Forest Service is proposing to convey, through sale or lease, all or a portion of the Upper parcel at its El Jebel administrative site pursuant to the Forest Service Facility Realignment and Enhancement Act of 2005 P.L. 109-54; 16 U.S.C. 580d note, as amended by P.L. 112-74, Title IV, Sec. 421. The associated water rights and mineral estate may also be conveyed. If the Forest Service retains a portion of the Upper Parcel, it will remain an administrative site with uses similar to current use, including forest service housing, storage, and boneyard space. The Upper Parcel is approximately 30 acres and is outside the administrative boundary of the White River National Forest. The Forest Service would retain ownership of the Lower Parcel located along the Roaring Fork River and would maintain public access to the Lower Parcel. Eagle and/or Pitkin County would be offered the first right of refusal for conveyance of this property in accordance with the existing authorities. However, if the first right of refusal is waived, conveyance may occur via competitive sale or lease.
