Aspen-Sopris Public Rock Collection Program
District Ranger Scott Snelson, signed a Decision Notice and Finding of No Significant Impact on September 21, 2010 approving the Aspen-Sopris Ranger District Public Rock Collection program. The selected alternative is Alternative 2 (proposed action), with the option to implement the program at three of the four proposed sites: Basalt Mountain, NFSR #505, and Rocky Fork Trailhead. Alternative 2 will allow non-commercial entities with a permit to collect decorative rocks from one of these designated community sites. Rock collection permits are expected to be available by spring 2011.
